When fellow Momtourage momma Sharon told us that she was pregnant with her third baby, we knew we had to do something extra-special for her baby ‘sprinkle.’ We decided that a day visit to Ste. Anne’s was in order to celebrate her, as she will soon be surrounded with her third son! It was a fantastic day for all of us, and a nice change from the regular baby celebrations.
This was my first time at Ste. Anne’s, and in all honesty…it was even more than what I expected. From the moment we arrived, I was in awe of it’s beauty. It looked so magical, all the trees and buildings covered in snow.
You pay a flat rate for the day’s experience there, which includes a spa allowance, lunch, afternoon tea, and access to all the facilities for the day, which includes a eucalyptus steam room, pool, hot tub, lounge areas, and all of the outdoor trails.
Before our treatments, we spent some time wandering around the spa – although it has been all restored, they have retained that old-world feeling in the architecture and decor. Everything was just simple, quaint, and beautiful. Do not expect fancy, modern facilities…it is a beautiful country inn with charming country touches. It is the epitome of coziness and relaxation.
We were told we could go down to the locker room to change into our robes and store our bags. No need to worry about bringing anything other than a bathing suit and sandals. Lockers with electronic locks are provided, along with fluffy white robes. The locker rooms are fully stocked – towels, toiletry supplies, vanity stations to get beautified, even bags for wet bathing suits. There is also a plunge pool in the locker room!
Ste. Anne’s was a great place to celebrate the momma-to-be. There are tons of areas to curl up and lounge together. We immediately changed into our robes, and curled up on the comfy couches for Sharon to unwrap her gifts. Think of rooms full of fluffy couches that you can just sink into! Even though the spa was busy, there were always places between treatments to relax and chat. The fireplaces were perfectly charming for a snowy day!
When you are just lounging around, there is water and snacks available all day long. You can grab some homemade granola, fresh fruit, or biscotti if you need a snack.
So, I’ll be honest..I was a bit apprehensive about the food. Knowing that it was going to be healthy food, I wasn’t sure whether it would be enjoyable. Boy, was I wrong! For lunch, I had a vegetarian lasagna, which was delicious. It was followed up by a petite brownie topped with raspberry sorbet. It was an appropriate portion – filling, but didn’t leave me feeling bloated and yucky. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into the menu – the food is definitely comfort food – but with a healthy twist and appropriate portions, which doesn’t leave you feeling too full…which would be a downfall as we were getting into our swimsuits after lunch!
Afternoon tea was a delectable treat! Along with your beverage choice (they have tons of yummy tea options, and hot and cold drinks to choose from), you can choose what type of food you would like (fruit & cheese, scones, hot hors d’oeuvres, sweets). We were all having a hard time deciding which to choose so they brought us a bit of everything. Unfortunately, we forgot to snap pics before we dug in, but everything on the platter was absolutely delicious. It was the perfect end to our spa day.
Although you can book many treatments, I only chose to have a massage so I could spend more time enjoying the facilities and spending time with the girls. The massage itself was great – soothing and relaxing, you are given a choice of essential oils to be used during your massage. I loved that my massage therapist even used a special lotion when massaging my troll feet that are as dry as the Sahara Desert! The eucalyptus sauna and outdoor hot tub were hands down my favourite when using the facilities. For the more adventurous types, there are exercise classes, outdoor trails, and snowshoeing that you can do as well…for us, it was all about relaxing this time!
The staff at Ste. Anne’s are absolutely incredible. Seriously. Every single person I encountered was friendly, helpful, and truly made you feel pampered. The only cons I could drum up from this visit (and I’m reaching here, people)….the treatment rooms are pretty non-descript. There’s nothing fancy about them…but I personally didn’t really care – you’re usually lying with your eyes closed anyway!
All in all, it was an incredible day for all of us, and an amazing way to pamper a momma-to-be before the arrival of her little one. As moms, we all deserve a little pampering and relaxation away from the kids. It allowed us each to be spoiled, and gave us lots of time to relax with Sharon before bebe arrives. I’m already planning my next visit – I have decided that next time, it will be an overnight visit in one of their beautiful cabins!
You can check out Ste. Anne’s on their website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
